What absolute rubbish.
This is complete baloney. Pure unadulterated BS. I moved to San Diego, CA in 1970. There was very little smog except for a handful of days each year. LA still had lots of smog.
Over the years with more and more stringent emission controls, the improvement in air quality throughout CA has been massive. Even LA where I lived for 5 years has made huge strides in its air quality. Same for Orange County where I lived for 23 years.
I now am retired and live in the Coachella Valley, low desert of So. Cal. We are under an hour’s drive to El Centro which is listed in the top 10. You have got to be kidding me as the entire Imperial Valley is agricultural. Perhaps the government bureaucrats are counting blowing sand as pollution but it sure is not from vehicles, power plants, etc. This is simply one more example of how screwed up our government has become.
I was born and raised in NYC. When I go back to NYC during the summer months, I am astounded as to how many days the air is foul. NYC air makes LA air look great.

perhaps... but California is grande in size... and some of those towns are right next to each other along Hwy. 99...
I find it amazing that neither Buffalo nor Niagara Falls is in the list.
Especially in light of the fact that Love Canal is in Niagara Falls and the Buffalo River actually caught fire in 1968.
