For a minute I thought folks were going to try and characterize Friedman as anti-trade the way some try and portray Reagan as favoring import tax hikes.  It's clear; Freidman may have once liked withholding taxes, but he always backed private enterprise.

When he died, a select few of us tried to portray him as pro-illegal immigration. The problems that people have with Friedman really boil down to how much they want the government to control our lives. That illegal immigration “gambit” was bullcrap from bullcrappers.
