If the NSA had done it, we would.

the difference is that Romney was giving a public speech.

I don't think it was a public speech. It was a speech to those people who paid to hear it.

This was a private conversation and millions of people express the same sentiments every day.

Same cr** as with Paula Dean.

It's none of anyone's business.

For the same reason no one is talking about the fact that this rich, white Jew is a liberal Democrat that donates big buck$$$ to the DNC and was going to get an award from the NAACP on Sunday.

“Why aren’t we also outraged that Donald Sterling was secretly recorded?

For the same reason the libs didn’t care that Sarah Palin’s email got hacked..............to them the end justifies the means.

Listening to the tape it obvious she was goading him on and basically trying to make him say things that he might not have otherwise have said. As it was it was very mild and seemed more like he was objecting to her stepping out with people and being very public about it. The black thing was really kind of secondary as opposed to what she was doing. That was the catalyst.

Kareem's point echoes my own, on another thread, yesterday. But why does everyone who wants to comment on the sanctimonious posturing of the media and some others, over a private conversation, feel unable to do so, without a series of compulsion driven repudiations of the victim of this breach of privacy?

When did a free people, ever before, fall all over themselves in such terror lest anyone think that they preferred the association of some people over other people?

The answer is that the Left has so conditioned a large part of the population that we are no longer really a free people. The "politically correct" fervor that seemed only a bad joke when Clinton took office, has now morphed into the sort of thought control that was so disturbing in Soviet Russia & later in Nazi Germany. Does anybody really--be honest, at least with yourselves--really care if this wealthy man did not want his ex-girl friend, hanging out with other men;--I mean really, regardless of the ethnicity of those other men?

That the media so jumped on this--even before it was verified as being a genuine recording--tells us a great deal about their sense of proportion.

A very informative post and one must hope that Kareem is not assailed for his views. This by the usual suspects. A simple quote that caught my eye. Man, what a winding road she led him down to get all of that out.

In the past the "sound and fury" in matters like these have always had a shelf life. This will pass, just how many days/weeks would be hard to project. The question for me is posed by mention of George Orwell here. What is the final and complete defeat of a human being?

Orwell's 1984 said it well. Dictators such as Hitler lost. Lost, because the victims shouted defiance even to the firing squads. Big Brother won because Winston Smith, sodden with "victory gin" and cigarettes, sat alone. He finally realised through tears, "He loved Big Brother".

Will Sterling break down an cry before the likes of Sharpton, will he beg forgiveness? Or will he try to give them the royal shaft? We will see.

“In this country, people are allowed to be morons.”

This I agree with. We see it in abundance everyday.

I wondered that myself. Isn’t it illegal to be taped without ones consent?(Of course, that would exclude the NSA)
