Working Families Send Messages of Solidarity to Immigrant Workers on Hunger Strike

AFL-CIO President Richard Trumka visited hunger strikers last week outside the White House who are protesting deportations that rip families apart from each other. We asked our mobile supporters to send messages of solidarity and encouragement to the hunger strikers. Here are some highlights from what you said:

• Keep up the fight. Hasta la Victoria.

• Carry on one day longer for justice.

New members are meaningless unless they have jobs and can pay dues. Immigration reform/Amnesty will inflate the U.S. labor force, dilute wages and benefits, and make union busting easier for employers. AFL/CIO played a big role in killing the Bush amnesty push in 2007. Big labor has always opposed immigration. Even Cesar Chavez, head of United Farm Workers, waged a battle against illegal aliens stealing the jobs of American Latinos.

I think the union leadership pays lip service to amnesty because its a Democrat cause but in reality are plotting a way for Obama to kill it—like he did as a senator in 2007—and blame it on the GOP.

Somehow Comrade Trumka has yet to hand over his job to Miguel Rodriguez from Guadalajara.But he's absolutely fine with Americans,particularly Americans "of color",being unemployed when these invaders have work...probably after having given a stolen social security number.

American workers, especially union workers, supporting amnesty for illegals who will then take many of the scsrce jobs available.

Amnested illegals will have the greatest impact on blacks and the poor who will have to compete with the low skilled, amnested illegals for jobs.
