My bet is he was outside of Cook County when he said it.
Kirk seems to forget that Illinois is more than just the Chicago area.
Did oberweis win the nomination? He’ll lose. The combine will make sure of that.
Yeah. Oberweis has run for office six times here - for whatever office was open, and finally won the IL Senate his sixth time around. Not many like him as he flip-flops.
He’s polling at just over 16% against Durbin and has little chance of winning so it’s not a lot of skin off Kirk’s back to campaign for him.
Furthermore, as Kirk is pretty much hated outside the Chicago area, his campaign will probably hurt Oberweis more than help him.

I support Jim Oberweis. He has evolved into a Traditional Family Values conservative. He is a proven businessman, who will stand strong on immigration and the Constitution. He also will protect Traditional Family Values.
