FEMA actually has had some pretty good prepper info, including a pamphlet on how to build a wood gassifier for running internal combustion engines if gasoline is unavailable.

johnny, so do the Mormons. Free info is one thing, but proliferation of .gov sites offering the dummies of America useful information is out of control. On every radio and TV station all day and night it is .gov this and .gov that. We are too stupid to pick a car seat without going to a .gov site? And what the hell is “the ad counsel”? And who is paying for all of it?

The Ad counsel has been around for quite a while.

The federal government, under laws written by congress, has a responsibility to provide information useful for the general welfare. They range from mariners charts and maps to the WWV radio time stations, and many, many others.

Historically, the federal government has been a clearing house for varied information from all over the nation, bringing it into one place and making it available.

Constitutionally, I find no fault with congress for making those laws.

Of course, there shouldn't be any USDA publications because there shouldn't be a USDA.

But gathering information and making it available is a good thing.
