LET ARIZONA VOTE: AZ SENATOR BIGGS THWARTING CONVENTION OF STATES VOTE
Breitbart Big Government ^ | 22 Apr 2014 | by MARK MECKLER

Arizona Senate President Andy Biggs is blocking a vote on the very popular Convention of States Application (SCR 1016) which calls for an Article V Convention to propose amendments to the Constitution that would limit the scope and power of the federal government. Here’s what happened.

The bill passed the Arizona House by a large majority. Biggs, however, has always been opposed to the idea of an Article V Amending convention, even though stalwart conservative pundits and thinkers like George Will, Mark Levin, Sarah Palin, Rush Limbaugh, Sean Hannity, Glen Beck, and David Barton all support the idea.

Citing fears of a “runaway convention,” Biggs is apparently more comfortable continuing to let Congress and the President “runaway” with our liberties.

Those who do not study (American) history are doomed to repeat it.

Our Founding Father’s installed emergency exit plans, for times such as these, but MANY do not know the first thing about our own history, let alone our remarkable Constitution.

you keep saying I don't know what I am talking about and I keep telling you they ignored the rules for changing the original constitution (the articles of confederation)

those rules stated that any changes made had to be approved by a unanimous vote.

BUT, the constitution which emerged from the convention had to only be approved of by 9 of the 13 states.

In other words, they CHANGED the rules after they called the convention. And I have NO DOUBT they will change the rules again as needed to accomplish ANY goal they wish to reach.

Not WASHINGTON your own state representatives. If they decide not to hold people accountable (which is why the states who are passing this include a removal clause for the people selected) then all is lost anyway

I’ll admit to not having looked at this too carefully and I know that Mark Levin says ‘no problem’, but I’ll admit I too worry about such a convention going in the wrong direction.

do you know who Cyrus Griffin was?

He was the last president under the articles of confederation, and his office (along with all other public offices) were rendered obsolete after the adoption of the constitution.

The same thing would happen again if we called a convention. The entire current US government (including the supreme court would be out of a job) and then the new government would get to choose an entirely new supreme court...

Do you really want anyone currently in power selecting the entire supreme court all at once to replace our current one?

No thanks, ill keep Thomas, Scalia, Alito, and yes, even the healthcare traitor Roberts. And dont want Obama or John McCain, John Boehner, or anyone other current leaders of the two parties selecting an entirely new supreme court.

You are ever so wrong. Read Levin’s book He explains it and deals with all of the nonsense arguments way better than I can.

You are just wrong wrong wrong.

You have your head in the sand. The written Constitution is no longer in effect: judges have subverted it into oblivion. Washington will not reform itself. Only We the People can fix things. The only solution is Article V. The window of opportunity is closing. Once the Amnesty bomb turns reds states purple and purple states blue, this country will be lost forever.

We need you. It’s going to take everyone. The alternative is the death of the Republic. It is winter at Valley Forge.

I’m open to being educated, but how can there be

a) a precedent for a single-issue convention, and
b) no precedent for a run-away convention

if there’s never been such a convention held before?

As was previously stated, if the politicians wont follow what the constitution clearly says now, what makes you think they would follow it if you changed the words a little?

The constitution we have now is fine, it’s just not being followed.

Incumbency is the single greatest corrupting influence in our entire political system. There is only one way to set term limits: through an Article V. process. The reason that it has never worked in the past is that the states could not agree on the language. The Convention of States approach is the way to go—by limiting the subject and coordinating language. We the People will throw out career politicians. The status quo guarantees the LEFT has won. Doing nothing is surrender. If Valley Forge doesn’t move you, what about the Alamo? That’s where we are.

Get up to speed:

"A constitution exists and it is ignored. 20-something Amendments exist and are ignored. Do you see a pattern here? Whatever a section V comes up with will be ignored, if it’s convenient."

WRONG! The existing amendments are NOT being ignored and neither will the new ones. We have a first amendment and second amendment and if they were being ignored we would not be having this discussion in an open forum. If the second amendment were being ignored Cliven Bundy would be dead or in jail and there would be no need for the NRA.

The only pattern I see is a pattern of ignorance to those posting in opposition to an article V convention. There is simply no excuse for this level of ignorance on the topic at this point.

When in doubt, attack FReepers who don't agree with you. Your tactics are right up there with the Globull Warming nuts. And you wonder why you can't convince people to your side? Did the thought ever occur to you maybe people have read up, and they have come to a different conclusion than you have? Nope. They must be stupid or ignorant.

KMA. I might have been willing to listen to a learned argument, but you resorted to personal attacks instead.
