WASHINGTON While the nation looks for solutions to the problem of rising sea levels, some coastal communities in Florida are taking action to save themselves from sinking into the ocean.
Hallandale Beach is preparing to pump excess groundwater into an aquifer. Fort Lauderdale has raised a coastal roadbed and is installing one-way "tidal valves" that flush water down storm drains but block seawater from rising back up.
And coastal communities farther north, from Palm Beach County to the Space Coast, are developing plans that would concentrate housing, businesses, water plants and wells on higher ground, less vulnerable to the rising sea.
"Florida is ground zero for sea-level rise," U.S. Sen. Bill Nelson told the Senate while announcing a field hearing in Miami Beach on Tuesday, which is Earth Day. "We've got quite a story to tell."
Nelson plans to highlight Florida's adaptations to its changing coastline when the Senate Subcommittee on Science and Space meets at 10 a.m. at Miami Beach City Hall.

It looks like planet Earth has already made good on President Barack Obamas 2008 promise to slow the rise of the oceans and heal the planet. A top Swedish climate scientist says that satellite data confirms that there has been no acceleration in sea level rises over the past two decades.
We now have satellite measurements for 20 years which indicate a steady rise of about 3 mm per year, and during that time no acceleration, commented Lennart Bengtsson, a senior research fellow at the Environmental Systems Science Centre at the University of Reading, on the Swedish blog Stockholms Initiativet.
Bengtsson points to satellite data of rises compiled by the University of Colorado which shows global sea level rises of about 3 millimeters per year on average for the last 20 years, meaning there has been no acceleration in sea levels rises.

A smart move even if there is no AGW.
In Florida, it’s not so much the rising sea level as the shrinking land mass due to subsidence. Water being drained from underground aquifers is lowering the elevation.
Hurricanes are the real threat.
Don’t build your house on the sandy land.
Don’t built it too near the shore . . .
The Bible has good advice for those who are discerning enough to pay attention and take heed.
When insurance companies charge more based o. Factual evidence based data then we’ll have something to go by. But they have not done so as this is a theory not a fact.
People had better wise up
If your voter registration card says “democrat” you should not be able to own beachfront property.
“On Christ the solid Rock I stand,
All other ground is sinking sand;
All other ground is sinking sand.”
One of my favorite hymns.
Oh that’s a much better song to have stuck in my head today. Thanks! :-)
Doesn't look like we've had too many here lately.

In the meantime...
As a result of worldwide cooling temperatures, Alaska has begun construction on a number of toll booths at the foot of what has been calculated to be the “new” land bridge that will be forming between Alaska and Russia.
In addition, several hotel chains, including Holiday Inn and the Red Roof Inn, are exploring land purchases in the area in an effort to capitalize on the massive flow of immigrants that are expected to travel across the land bridge to visit “America”.

Actually sea level has been rising yearly at an average of 0.5mm per year if you look at measurements going back to the 1800s.
What does Confucius say about this?

Note the 'coincidence' of a Newspaper, a Politician and an 'Event' day, as basis for a theme on AGW/AGCC? However, reading the actual story you can see that much of the problem comes from increased population draining the supporting acquirers and thus leading to land subsidence being a cause of incursive seas.
I believe, however, it will be safe to assume, that former astronaut Bill Nelson will not allow this inconvenient truth to color his 'rally the base' speech on Earth Day!
The obvious problem is...if the seas have stopped rising, then Obama’s prophecy has come true, but according to global warmingists, the seas are still rising. So...which is it, you stupids?!!
Oh...I thought the weight of the extra people on the Florida peninsula was making it sink, or...er...Global Warming...yep, that’s it!
That's usually caused by excessive pumping of our aquifer and has nothing to do with current sea level raising. Much of the other stuff is being done because hurricanes prepreations. This article has the deceptive feel of 'global warming' lies...
I wonder if the term “shifting sands” has any meaning to people anymore????
Because of tidal actions, the coast of EVERY country that has a coast is constantly changing and there ain’t nothin’ that can be done about it....
It’s called “nature”........
Idjuts all of them.
