Don’t blame us when you die and find out you were wrong Maher. We tried to tell you but you would’t listen.

Maher brought up religion to say that belief in the afterlife is “the most dangerous meme ever,” before arguing that “we have a hard time making the human rights case anymore like we once did . . .

But the belief in an afterlife and a concomitant final judgement is the basis for all morality. As Dostoevsky said, if there is no God then everything is possible. That is to say, if there is no God and no final accounting for our actions, why recognize and respect anybody's rights? Why not just grab all that you can in this life without respect for others and when you lose or it's no fun anymore just "dash the cup to the ground" and commit suicide, like Ivan Karamazov said?

Atheists remind me of a Looney Tunes cartoon where Tweetie Bird is sitting on a branch of a tree as Sylvester the Cat is trying to catch him and eat him. Tweetie Bird pulls out a saw and saws off the branch he's sitting on but instead of him falling the tree falls with the hapless Sylvester in tow. All their talk about morality and human rights is a human tradition that grew from the mighty tree of religion, specifically Judaism and Christianity. They want to cut themselves off from that and somehow remain suspended forever at dizzying moral heights unsupported by any notion of ultimate human destiny, human responsibility, and meaning that transcends this life.

They're delusional.

How can any sane person view the mass murders of the atheistic Communists of the last 100 years and still entertain the notion that atheism is conducive to human rights?

He cares about human rights? American Christianity defeated African slavery. It defeated neo-Pagan Nazism and saved Europe. It defeated Japanese super-race imperialism. And it defeated Soviet Communism.

And I tell you truly, it will defeat the neo-Marxism that is Political Correctness, Environmentalism and the slaughter of abortion on demand.
