State House Speaker Thom Tillis (R-Mecklenberg) may hold a slim lead over Republicans vying for the partys U.S. Senate nomination, but hes the only potential challenger who trails Sen. Kay Hagan (D-NC) in a head-to-head matchup.
The latest Public Policy Polling (PPP) survey out of North Carolina found that Hagan trails most of the Republican field. Mark Harris (44/40) and Heather Grant (43/39) both hold a 4-point lead over Hagan. Greg Brannon, who has received a lot of grassroots support, holds a 2-point edge, at 42/40.
But Hagan leads Tillis, the frontrunner for the Republican nomination, by a 2-point margin, at 43/41. Tom Jensen, director of Public Policy Polling, attributes this his being more well known than the other Republicans in the race.
In Tillis case being well known is not necessarily a positive thing, wrote Tom Jensen, director of Public Policy Polling, his time at the helm of an unpopular legislature has left him with a 20/39 favorability rating.
Heres the thing, though. Tillis is the Republican establishments pick in this race. Karl Roves American Crossroads dropped $1.1 million to promote Tillis ahead of the May 6 primary, hoping that it would help his preferred candidate grab the 40% he needs to avoid a runoff.
Tillis lead in the primary is relatively small. [He] leads the GOP field with 18% to 15% for Greg Brannon, 11% for Mark Harris, 7% for Heather Grant, 6% for Ted Alexander, 5% for Alex Bradshaw, 2% for Jim Snyder, and 1% for Edward Kryn, Jensen explained. 34% of voters remain undecided and Tillis will probably have to win most of them in order to get to the 40% mark needed to avoid a runoff.

That’s because Brannon knows the Constitution, knows the job vis a vis the Constitution, and he is a passionate, reasonable, sane, hard working devoted patriot.
Of course he’ll win.
any one with those creds will win any, and especially, the presidential race.
Any one of any party, except the dems, as it would be impossible now to be of that character and be of the party of birth control, the party of control.
Anyone but Hagan....
Don’t hold your breath waiting for Rove’s allies at FNC to point this out...
Well, apparently not, since Rove’s guy cant cut it.
Dear friends, do not worry! We intend to make sure the Democrats keep control of the Senate in 2015. We repudiate the Tea Party and make sure our colleagues on the other side of the aisle understand we have no differences whatsoever! Conservatives are our common enemy! They will lose.
Who made Karl Rove a King for GOP
?
I am so totally sick of him, when he comes on as a guest on the FOX shows my TV goes dark.
He does not speak for me, he really is a nobody, and needs to shut the Hell up.
