That picture shows the toll his medical condition, and mainly the treatment (steroids) were taking on him. The photo unfairly makes him look slothful; but, he was always the opposite of that. Sloths don’t get hockey scholarships to Ivy league schools.

What a loss. He was a real conservative. The steroid treatment for his skin condition must have caused the heart attack.
Most of Eastern Ontario voted for him to lead the Provincial Conservatives when he ran against Ernie Eves, the “establishment” candidate who won.

What a loss, indeed. Canada came out of that latest big recession smelling like a rose compared to most other countries because of Jim Flaherty. He had an incredible mind when it came to finances. Mr. Flaherty was a true conservative thinker. He will be sadly missed.
