MOSCOW, April 10 (Reuters) - President Vladimir Putin warned European leaders on Thursday Russia would cut natural gas supplies to Ukraine if it did not pay its bills and said this could lead to a reduction of onward deliveries to Europe.
In a letter to the leaders of 18 countries, he demanded urgent talks with Europe on pulling Ukraine's economy out of crisis but made clear his patience was running out over Kiev's $2.2 billion gas debt to its former Soviet master.

I guess Europe will want more nasty “baby killer” “capitalist pig” “Zionist loving” American oil now....and we’ll give it to them...at the American peoples expense. NO WAR FOR OIL!
Interesting point. And it makes sense too because we are not increasing capacity. Well if we are (ie nat gas), the EPA and the environmentalists will take care of that.
This will only increase costs to Americans if we don't increase capacity — supply vs demand.
We have plenty of it. Hopefully they will buy it from us at a profit to our companies instead of taxpayer expense.
How does this play out? Russia cuts off Ukraine gas for non-payment. Ukraine diverts Western Europe bound gas passing through Ukraine for its own use. Suggests Europe pay the arrearage for them. What is Europe’s choice?
This is the big anvil over the head of Europe, and NATO.
Gas reserves in Europe are almost nil due to a very cold winter. At one point this winter, Britain was down to just a six-day supply. It will take years to bring on more storage capacity, and build the ships and ports to bring American Gas to Europe.
This is the cost of the “GREEN!” agenda, and it looks like Europe is going to have to pay it.
Europe has been the big pusher of the green, global warming movement.
I say we tell then use their much vaunted windmills and solar panels and how well they can compete in the modern world and be happy, you are not getting what you hoped for.
“How does this play out?”
Europe folds, or they get to sit in the dark.
This is the cost of the “GREEN!” agenda.
Ukraine hasn’t aid a penny for the Russian gas it has used since January 2013, and still got paid for transit to Europe.
It won’t take long for the $18 billion from the IMF to disappear in the fog of Ukraine’s massively corrupt systems.
Russia is using various proxy parties to disrupt the existing global order. Secession in Spain, Italy, Alaska, and Scotland.

If the fascists stay true to form, there will be a special tax imposed in US users to reduce the price the EU pays. Since this is a matter of national security there will also have to be limits on how much of our own gas we nasty Americans can use.
I’m sure those nice Americans will pay the bill. They always do.

I take it you have never heard of the “Open Society Institute”?
Uh Oh! Putin did have a plan once he took over Ukraine. What will Dear Bammy’s next chess move be? Now he will work toward’s crushing the European Union. He might collect some cash along the way. He now gets to hold Europe hostage.
European governments will cower and capitulate. They are as feckless and defenseless as America in this.
More and more, I believe, as a populace, we have become too stupid to govern ourselves. We elected jacka$$es to rule over us and then handed them the whips and chains.
Russia will win out in every respect in this unfortunate mess that the EU and US has helped create.
It’s a shame that powerful nations (US, Russia, EU countries)
have worthless scum as leaders. The last good guys were Thatcher and Reagan.... we may never see their like again.
...Putin, that is. (gets to hold Europe hostage)
Obama officially blocks Putin from seeing his Tumblr page.
Watch it, Vlad, or else Instagram will be next!
The greenies got Germany to close their nuclear power even though there’s not much chance of a tsunami there.
