Watched Robinson Crusoe on Mars a couple nights ago. Reminds me of the fire balls that seemed to roam around the terrain in that movie. Just a thought. Something venting from the ground here.

It looks like a stuck pixel or group of pixels on the camera. It used to be pretty common on digital cameras that some of the pixels would fail and record either pure white or pure black.
