I am not defending the Obama administration or the MSM, but I think it’s a crock to say that the U.S. ranks only 46th in press freedom, especially when northern European countries are ranked higher. The U.S. has a vibrant alternative press, whereas in most of Europe the public is force-fed left, more-left, and even-more-left, with nary an opposing view.

We have much more suppression at the source. That is, very few facts are released if they make one of the administration’s favorites (Muslims, black gang-bangers or gays) look bad.

The Norfolk naval base killer last week was a black guy known as Booker, right? And even that took them days to release. And finally, a few days after that, Fox mentioned that his Muslim name was something like “Muhammed Hasan.” I’ve forgotten the original. In other words, another crazed Islamic convert. But now the whole thing has disappeared from the news.

I wonder when we’ll find out the Islamic name of the latest Fort Hood attacker...

And this is all without mentioning the fact that Moochelle forbade the US press to report on her latest vacay in China, the fact that the press no longer rides in the same plane with the president, and the fact that they are no longer allowed to freely ask questions at those rare presidential press conferences.

There have also been unprecedented attacks on journalists who have asked one question too many or revealed something that Obama would have preferred to keep hidden (not for any valid reason).

There are many different ways of suppressing the truth - and the free press, although unfortunately often complicit in their own suppression, is definitely being repressed in Obama’s ugly US.

I beg to differ. The article was spot-on about how the censorship in the USA isn’t just government sponsored but media sponsored.

While our government suppresses information in the US that people outside of the US have easy access to our media is far more aggressive in imposing ‘filters’ where the facts of many stories are omitted in order to make the stories more suited to the transnationalist/progressive worldview.

For instance, we hear about how ‘health outcomes’ in the USA are so bad compared to Europe but when you can get your hands on the raw data and exclude non-native US residents (including illegal aliens) who come to the US with pre-existing conditions then US health outcomes and life expectancies are unparalelled. But that doesn’t fit the media narrative that we have awful healthcare and that we need Obamacare.

Likewise, stories that paint blacks, Mexicans, Puerto Ricans, and muslims are either not reported or else they are spun to diminish the facts of the stories being tied to the ethnicity or faith of the subject.

Stories on firearms are notoriously propagandized to fit the media narrative.

No, we do not have nearly the freedoms we should have and the absence of a free, independent, and unbiased press deservedly ranks us at 46th in press freedom.

“...I think it’s a crock to say that the U.S. ranks only 46th in press freedom...”

I don’t know where the US media ranks, but I do know that I get better US national coverage from European sources than most American sources.
