Tea Party Momentum Builds Around McDaniel in Mississippi GOP Senate Primary
breitbart.com ^ | 4/3/14 | Michael Patrick Leahy

Momentum is building around the campaign of Tea Party backed state senator Chris McDaniel in his challenge to incumbent Senator Thad Cochran (R-MS) in the June 3 Mississippi Republican U.S. Senate primary.

A recent poll by Tea Party Express show the two in a close race, with a significant number of voters still undecided, a bad sign for the incumbent. Historically, undecided voters in most elections swing to the challenger. A Rasmussen Reports poll released on Monday did not provide results of a head-to-head primary matchup between Cochran and McDaniel, but shows that both Republicans beat the likely Democratic nominee by about the same margin.

On Tuesday, political expert Stuart Rothenberg declared that Cochran is in "deep trouble" against McDaniel in the primary election.

Grant Sowell, lead coordinator of the Tupelo, Mississippi Tea Party, told Breitbart News on Wednesday that "momentum is building by the day for Chris McDaniel in Mississippi. There is evidence of it even by Cochran's supporters who earlier were mocking McDaniel's chances and are now conceding Cochran may be vulnerable in today's climate."

It does not help Cochran's chances for re-election that national and local Tea Party groups have united behind McDaniel's challenge to him. The Club for Growth, The Tea Party Patriots Citizen Fund, Senate Conservative Fund, FreedomWorks, Tea Party Express, and the Madison Project have all endorsed McDaniel. In addition, virtually all of the local Mississippi Tea Party groups have also endorsed him.

Last month, Sarah Palin added her star power to the McDaniel campaign with her vigorous endorsement of him.

Thad has been a primary risk for the elitist. Given donors don’t want to put money into multiple primaries (i.e., they need to send money to Mitch), I ask Mississippi FREEPERS if they have seen a drop off in national support.

“Given donors don’t want to put money into multiple primaries “

That was the case before yesterday when donor COULD NOT BY LAW PUT MONEY INTO MULTIPLE PRIMARIES.

The law used to be a person was limited to 5200 per candiate and 46,000 for all candidates.

Now you can spend 5200 for as many candidates as you want without the 46,000 aggregate limit.

I was not going to donate to Cochran for that reason as I had already decide who was getting the 46,000. Now I can add him to my list and anyone else I want to also.

Thad Enough is campaigning as a born-again conservative.

You’re going to donate to Thad Cochran, the ultimate GOP-E candidate?

“Thad Enough is campaigning as a born-again conservative.”

Yeah, too bad he can’t run from a conservative voting record like this:

Cochran (MS) - 06/03/14 - 54% (Average) - 57% (Heritage) - 56% (CFG) - 60% (ACU) - 41% (FreedomWorks)

I am GOPe. I believe in Gope

GOPe is pragmatically conservative.

We are as conservative as the electorate will allow.

Ted Cruz will never win in Maine.

Christine O’Donnell will never win in Delaware. Actually even Mike Castle may not have won in Delaware.

I don't believe you for a second.

If you are what you say you are, then you'd be donating to McDaniels precisely because he has a good chance of unseating someone who is just above being a Democrat.

You're no more conservative than Mitt Romney, and apparently, you have as much trouble with the truth as he does.

I live in MS> Are you trying to tell ME that we are not conservative? We are slowly taking over control of local Republican politics. Against lying, cheating and other tricks by the old guard. McDaniel will easily handle any Democrat they put up.
You are the problem my friend. We have a golden opportunity to flex our conservative muscle but you don't have the ‘nads to engage. Thad is toast and you know it. He just showed his face down here for the first time in a decade. That's how connected he is.

I was born in MS but live in another Southern state. Why would you support Thad? My friends/relatives who live in MS can not wait to get rid of him. Are you a real conservative because I have my doubts?

____________________________________________________________________________________________________

I’ve been saying that for weeks. In Cochran’s case, dude has been in the Senate for 30 years. If a person is not sure they want him to stay there, after 30 years, bet your booty they’ll go for the challenger in the voting booth. Historically, 75% of undecided voters end up voting for the challenger.
