But the portrait of a steadily increasing number of deportations rests on statistics that conceal almost as much as they disclose. A closer examination shows that immigrants living illegally in most of the continental U.S. are less likely to be deported today than before Obama came to office, according to immigration data.
Expulsions of people who are settled and working in the United States have fallen steadily since his first year in office, and are down more than 40% since 2009.
On the other side of the ledger, the number of people deported at or near the border has gone up — primarily as a result of changing who gets counted in the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement agency's deportation statistics.
The vast majority of those border crossers would not have been treated as formal deportations under most previous administrations. If all removals were tallied, the total sent back to Mexico each year would have been far higher under those previous administrations than it is now.
well when you consider that some illegal aliens get deported 10+ times the numbers are fudged..
Does anyone honestly believe a government run by a political party that decided to eliminate any reference to God or the “Creator” as part of their platform is going to tell anyone the truth ?
Obama = misleading. Capisce??
New deportation numbers include people turned away at the border as deported. Yes, you read that right.
Your definition of deportation (the correct one, imo) is finding someone in the country illegally and sending them back to the country from which they came.
The current definition of deportation is people found in-country illegally and sent home + people turned away at the border.
The reason the deportation numbers are now high have nothing to do with improving the finding, detaining and removing of illegals. It has everything to do with changing the definition of the word to suit Democrat political purposes.
How much were the numbers inflated by illegals self-deporting because jobs were scarce in this country thanks to the Obama economy?!
Let’s not forget the illegals who have criminal convictions that they’ve released back into the community. Something like 60 odd thousand?
It seems that this point escapes Bill O’Reilly. It’s obvious to most people that this regime lies about everything. Can’t trust inflation, deportation, unemployment, obamacare, etc. etc.
