AFGE President: Paul Ryan’s Budget Is a Monster Out to Maul Federal Worker
American Federation of Government Employees ^ | April 1, 2014 | National President J. David Cox Sr.

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: April 1, 2014

Attacking federal employee pay, benefits and jobs hurts all Americans, union says

WASHINGTON – American Federation of Government Employees National President J. David Cox Sr. today issued the following statement in response to the fiscal 2015 House budget plan issued by Rep. Paul Ryan of Wisconsin:

“What’s another term for an insatiable monster hell-bent on savagely devouring everything in its sight?  The Ryan Budget.  Each year this monster gets hungrier, bolder, and more pitiless against its prey, the VA nursing assistants, Border Patrol agents, Social Security claims representatives, DoD weapons repair technicians, and EPA scientists who make up the federal workforce.

“Not content with the $138 billion already taken from this modestly paid workforce in the form of a three-year pay freeze followed by miniscule one percent adjustments and drastic reductions in retirement benefits for newly hired employees, the 2015 edition of the Ryan Budget would maul the federal workforce with a new ferocity.

“No more traditional pensions whatsoever for newly hired workers and $125 billion in retirement cuts to current employees. An additional cut in benefits for those who retire early, reductions in benefits for those hurt on the job, and to make it even more difficult for the government to recruit the next generation, an elimination of the program that allows student loan forgiveness.

“The message: if you’re a young person thinking about a career in public service, know that the Ryan Budget would pay you far less than your parents earned for the same work. If you’re in the middle of a career devoted to caring for wounded soldiers in a VA hospital, tighten your belt a few more notches, because frozen pay was just the beginning; now they’ll cut an additional 5.5% of salary from your paycheck. And for new and current employees alike, a promise that you’ll be forced to do the work of three employees, as only one of every three who retire will ever be replaced. Too bad if you care about food safety; one USDA inspector would be responsible for doing the work previously done by three.

“Mr. Ryan’s budget is both morally repulsive and intellectually dishonest. Putting into place his plan to impoverish the federal workforce hurts not only federal workers and their families, but all Americans who rely on the government for services ranging from care of veterans to repair of military equipment to enforcement of clean air and water law to security at the border.  Shame on Representative Ryan.”

Attacking federal employee pay, benefits and jobs hurts all Americans, union says

"And you know what we mean", union added.

"We WILL hurt all of you Americans if you cut our pay", the union clarified.

"We have all your private information, after all".

"And the IRS"

There should be about one hundred thousand total federal workers and they should be split between DoD, prisons and customs. Everything else should be privatized, eliminated, militarized (border patrol, FEMA, CDC) or sent down to the states or localities.

Head of largest federal employee union calls for 4% pay raise in 2015

“The president must send a strong message that inflicting pain on federal employees was a miserable failure. The administration punished federal workers in order to endear itself to those who despise the federal workforce, and it didn’t work,” Cox said. “If the president truly wants to put an end to austerity and the decline of the middle class, there is no better place to start than with his own employees.”

J. David Cox, Sr.

“Unfortunately, lawmakers have been imposing a starvation diet on the federal government for so long that many programs are on life support, leaving Americans malnourished — literally and figuratively.”

“These cuts aren’t just numbers in a budget. Without enough funding, EPA can’t fulfill its mission to ensure the safety of our air, water, food and communities.”

“In light of these staggering budget cuts, EPA says it will have to cut its inspections and enforcement actions in half over the next five years.”

Why Too Many U.S. Federal Employees Are Tax Cheats and Rule Breakers

The House of Representatives passed a bill last Tuesday that would fire federal employees who’ve been seriously delinquent in paying their taxes. They did this because almost 100,000 federal workers are behind on their taxes, including 700 congressional employees. These workers owed more than $1 billion in unpaid taxes 2010, up from just under $600 million in 2004, according to the Internal Revenue Service. We could charitably call these folks “rule breakers.”

Apparently Paul Ryan’s budget proposal must be pretty good if the demodummies are resisting it that badly.

Note to Wadhington: Consider passing it if the demodummies don’t like it. Certainly odumbo will veto or fail to sign it.

Better that the federal fascist Nazis take a pay cut than hang from a lamppost.

Personally, I prefer the latter.

When I worked for the Israelis during the Libyan civil war, the Libyans in Tripoli loved hanging NWO fascist, bureaucrat pigs from lampposts. It was like hanging holiday ornaments to spread joy throughout the land.

At this point, it’s almost safe to say, if they are against it, I’m for it sight unseen.

You know you’re near the target when you draw flak.

Shame Ryan’s such a putz in other areas, he knows his stuff financially. Even so his proposal doesn’t actually cut much of anything, just slows growth in spending over time. I will be happier when I see proposals for eliminating useless, dollar sucking government departments such as education and energy.

Dear Mr. J. David Cox, Sr.,

It was always my impression that as a public servant you forego riches in order to SERVE THE PUBLIC, not earn 66% more than a comparable job in the private sector. I must have been dreaming.

By the way, sir. If there is to be any cutbacks, by the look of your girth, I think you should cutback on the donuts, milk shakes, candy and whatever else you stuff in your mouth.

Have a nice day,

Bushbuddy
