A shallow magnitude 4.1 earthquake was reported Saturday afternoon one mile from Rowland Heights, according to the U.S. Geological Survey. The temblor occurred at 2:32 p.m. at a depth of 5.6 miles. (It was originally reported as a 4.4 magnitude.)

Updated at 2:40 p.m.

The quake was centered not far from the epicenter of Friday's 5.1 temblor in La Habra. There have been more than a hundred aftershocks since then, but this one was the largest.

Saturday's quake was felt across a large area of Southern California. There were no immediate reports of damage or injuries.

Across Northern Orange County, officials were tallying moderate damage from Friday's quake. Much of the damage was in La Habra, Fullerton and Brea.

Crews were working to repair broken water mains, leaking gas lines and other damage.

At least seven 8-inch water mains were broken, leaving an estimated 100 homes and businesses without water Saturday morning, officials said.

4.1? Gosh, the horror! Stiff upper lips, chaps. I am sure you will recover from the devastation.

Yeah light compared to what you probably are used to but consider, there have been over I think 200 quakes in about 24 hrs. ranging up and down the state from Anza in the south to Geysers in the north. And yes the worst so far is a 5.1, but the shear number and spread up and down the state with the majority being in the Fullerton/Brea/La Habra area has a lot of people concerned.

I watched the press conference Friday after the 5.1 , with the Geologists ,...and the Press was full of questions as to whether this was the start of more major quakes.

Dr. Jomes actually had a copy of a book by Richer ,...and found there had been a qualke in close to this location in 1929....

As I recall she said that Richter’s book was the only reference they had to the prior quake but I can’t recall if she said it was a 6.1 or 7.1

Very correct.

A few years back I had the opportunity to attend a briefing for transportation official on the subject. EVERY rail, natgas, WATER, road, railroad, telecomn, electric transmission line that crosses the fault will be severed.

Add to that: Take the worst damage that occurred Friday — and then picture it happening to every structure in Los Angeles, Orange, Vntrua, San Bernadino and Riverside counties.

That is what the Big One will bring. It will be very much like this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xioHswbahPc

Noted. I’ll be quiet. I just got an email from a Freeper friend reading me the riot act on this. I won’t mention any names and it wasn’t FReep mail.

Still, 4.1 wouldn’t even make the news here.

I'm with you normally, but these are odd, especially the 5.1. I'm old enough and native Californian to have been through a number of the bad ones and normally a 5.1 is just a pleasant ride, but I'm 10 to 15 mi. From the epicenter and it jerked the hell out of my house both vertical and side to side. It was a very shallow set of quakes.

4.1 hardly a quake
As a native CA, no one even noticed
