The WA website had a rocky start, but is supposed to be better now. The first day it would give out random quotes regardless of the information submitted by the user. Then there was a period where the website generated erroneous subsidy numbers. Haven’t heard much about it lately.

Yes, the Washington State Exchange would have benefited from an extended period of alpha and beta testing, with a more diverse group of use inputs. They made the typical developer's error of testing using a narrow spectrum of data entry conditions, without the very complicated household living arrangements prevalent in the real world. And some of the early bugs such as you mentioned should have been caught by any kind of testing. But the website's operation seems nominal now and I rarely hear about even any scheduled downtime.
