There are limits to the number of hours that truck drivers can work in a given week. There are limits for airline pilots also. I think there are limits for railroad engineers. Why not for transit drivers?

Transit drivers may not be subject to Federal Railroad Administration oversight, like truck drivers and airline pilots are governed by Federal regulations (the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration and FAA, respectively).
Having said that, I do find it hard to believe that any transit authority would allow this kind of nonsense.
