Rep. Barbara Lee is firing back at Bill OReilly, saying the Fox News hosts comments about race were disgusting.
Unfortunately weve come to expect language like welfare queens, food stamp president, and now race hustlers from the right wing and Mr. OReilly, the California Democrat said in a statement Wednesday. It is disgusting and divisive and should never be accepted in our national discourse.
OReilly had Rep. Paul Ryan (R-Wis.) on his program Tuesday night to discuss controversy over some comments Ryan had made about poverty and inner city culture that he later called inarticulate. Ryans remarks were seized upon by some on the left, including Lee, who called the Wisconsin Republicans statements racist.

Isnt a pity that the truth has become racist?
Isnt a pity that honest debate has become so strange and uncommon that it must be shouted down before some one becomes offended.
Isnt a pity that our nation has become so polarized by race, gender, religion and financial status that to comment on any subject almost always to invite attack.
If we cant discuss the problems that threaten to destroy our country openly and honestly we are doomed.
The number of food stamp recipients has ballooned in Obamas administration while the number of employed persons has fallen to record lows. Job creation is at a record low following a recession. The generation of new regulations from the federal leviathan it threatening to shut down innovation and new business creation.
If we do not deal with this situation we will descend to second world status. We will be the next Italy.
The Founding States had made the 10th Amendment to clarify that the Constitution's silence about things like citizen welfare means that such issues are automatically uniquely state power issues.
In fact, as mentioned in related threads, Justice John Marshall had officially clarified that Congress is prohibited from laying taxes in the name of state power issues, welfare the example of this thread.
Congress is not empowered to tax for those purposes which are within the exclusive province of the States. Justice John Marshall, Gibbons v. Ogden, 1824.
Yes “welfare queens” is not good. “Welfare breeding cows” is better.
Nothing biased about Politico’s choice of photographs.
Hey Barbie, I think YOU’RE disgusting! On the brighter side, at least your name isn’t Shaneequeea or some such /s;)
Such an app is impossible because they dont want you to know what is acceptable language. They want you to shut up.
All criticism of Obama and the protected races, classes and genders is forbidden.
Keep your mouth shut, accept the epithets that they cast at you with the proper humility and pay your taxes.
“What a bossy woman.”
lol... classic.
These people and words they dislike. First world problems. Sheltered lives.
REALLY???
Here is ANOTHER one - ILLEGAL ALIEN!
Blacks yelling “RACIST” always win. It’s almost too easy for them.
I dunno. The photo on the left looks a like Little Richard (to me, anyway).
Guess what Barbara Ryan spoke that absolute truth.
Obama is the welfare president like no one since Johnson.
Welfare queens are out there everywhere. And they are unapologetic.
By the way the race hustlers are on the Left as you well know being a member in good standing yourself.
Ryan should not have made even the small apology that he did. He should have struck back hard like above or better.
The Right needs to stop caving to this form of political attack. As long as this tactic is seen to work by the Democrats they will continue to use it to silence debate on the Right and we will be stuck in a racially Balkanized America.
What terms did this grievance monger offer to describe welfare leeches and the Liar in Chief then?
“Code Words”?
Next we will hear from the race pimps about “Code Letters”.
There will be 26 of them; A through Z.
Anytime a conservative uses one it will signify latent racism.
In other words “how dare you use words that accurately describe us”
What a pinhead.
She should be charged with treason for her career working for Ron Dellums, and when she poverty pimped on her own in the House.
I agree.
We need to restore welfare reform so that there are no more welfare queens whose lives are being ruined by liberal policies, and whose children's lives and being short circuited by the terrible example of parents who live as parasites doing nothing for themselves.
We need a real American in the White House who aspires to a higher level of performance than dramatically expanding the number of people who need food stamps.
We need to stop paying any attention at all to race hustlers, so they will get productive jobs instead of agitating in ways that allow them to profit at the expense of minorities.
I lover her idea. I think making those words disappear from the public discourse, just as polio is no longer discussed, would be wonderful.
