Former Secretary of Defense Donald Rumsfeld told Greta Van Susteren on Monday, “A trained ape can get a status of forces agreement. It does not take a genius.”
Rumsfeld was talking about Barack Obama’s failed diplomacy in Iraq and Afghanistan.

Donald Rumsfeld, who served as U.S. Defense Secretary under President George W. Bush, blames poor diplomacy by the Obama administration for the current strained relations with Afghan President Hamid Karzai.
“Our relationship with Karzai and with Afghanistan was absolutely first-rate in the Bush administration,” Rumsfeld told Fox News’s Greta Van Susteren on Monday. “It has gone down hill like a toboggan ever since the Obama administration came in.”
Rumsfeld pointed to the fact that the Obama administration has failed to get Karzai to sign an agreement that would allow some U.S. troops to remain in Afghanistan after 2014, when combat ends.
The U.S. has status of forces agreements with more than a hundred countries, Rumsfeld noted. “A trained ape can get a status of forces agreement,” he said. “It does not take a genius. And we have so mismanaged that relationship.”

Rumsfeld erroneously believes that Obama has any interest in bringing the policies of the Bush Administration to a successful conclusion.
In fact, I think he wants to achieve just the opposite outcome ..... deniably, of course, since it involves American dead.

It is interesting that whenever someone uses the word “ ape” in almost any nonscientific context, the leftists immediately interpret it as a racist attack on African Americans. They go there instantly. Yes, there is definitely racism somewhere in that process.

No, folks. Secretary Rumsfeld is not calling Barack Obama a trained ape. He’s saying Barry’s dumber than a trained ape. Which I think pretty much everybody knew was true the minute he announced his running mate.

I suspect/believe that there was much more to our involvement in Afghanistan than Al Qaeda. That the USA has over 100 ‘status of forces agreements’ with other nations is really a show of how extensive the USA’s involvement in the world is. This Nation has become so mired down in world problems that our own people are paying an exorbitant cost. I realize the world is not a 17 centuries one, but the Founding Fathers ideas for foreign entanglements should still have some guidance.
Sharing the US as a common enemy would go a long way with the Taliban. Do Russians care what happens to the citizens of that region? Of course not. Makes it easy to do business with them.
I’m just wondering why Rumsfeld would boast about a first rate relationship with Karsai. This vituperous, waste of space is probably as worthless to our interests as B-HO.
