Snyder to create foundation to provide help for tribal communities
CBS Sports ^ | March 25, 2014 | Josh Katzowitz

Just because the President has advised the Redskins to change their name and just because two members of Congress recently scolded the NFL for keeping the name, team owner Daniel Snyder has not been compelled to change it (he's been anything but, actually).

But with his colleagues -- and his commissioner -- still seemingly on his side (for now, at least), Snyder has taken a step to ingratiate himself into the Native American community.

In a letter released Monday, Snyder announced that he would create a Washington Redskins Original Americans Foundation that, in Snyder's words, will "provide meaningful and measurable resources that provide genuine opportunities for Tribal communities."

The president and congress must have had a light workload during that time.

They already have it. It is called Native American Scholarships, Welfare, SSI Disability and Casino Licenses.

Perhaps height-challenged people can mount a campaign against not one but two pro sports teams named the Giants.

Is Snyder giving in to political correctness? In that, he starting this group so he can say, hey, he is doing all this for Indians, so nobody should criticize the Redskins name anymore?

If a group or individual is upset over a matter but accepts some form of compensation, doesn’t that cheapen and weaken their argument? That goes for more than this topic.

I was going to call Mr. Snyder a racist, but changed my mind. I have, instead, asked him to give me a lifetime pass to Redskins games. This is not an attempted shakedown, or even an emotional outburst. I’ll let you all know when my pass is received.
