KINGSTOWN, St. Vincent (CMC) – A 24-year-old man, who was on bail for robbing an insurance worker in January, has been shot and killed, police said.

They said Kwesi Ryan died in his mother’s arms after he was shot several times by a masked assailant early Monday.

His mother, Brenda Ryan was not injured after the gunman entered her yard firing several shots at the victim.

“He died in front of my eyes. I can’t explain to anybody how I feel,” said Ryan, who, like her son, were trapped against a galvanize fencing as the gunman repeatedly shot at them.

Kwesi had been charged with another man for allegedly robbing the insurance worker of a bag, containing cash and cheques as well as a 9mm pistol and four rounds of ammunition.

Jamaica has some of the most draconian gun controls in the world. Tourists have been jailed for having one round of .22 rimfire stuck in the lining of their suitcases. It also has one of the highest homicide rates in the world.

We went last year to Jamaica to a Sandals resort and were told to not leave the property. You could leave if you wanted, but why? We were also told they had one of the highest murder rates in the world.

Kwesi Ryan died in his mother’s arms ...
What, no mention of his seeking a GED, being an aspiring rapper or turning his life around?

It sounds like he might have robbed the Jamaican Mafia, and not just your average insurance person.

Different rules in Jamaica.

I do not know if they offer GED’s.

Extremely corrupt government, I am told.

I won’t go to Jamaica. I think it’s worse now then in the 70s when Manley was PM. Beautiful country, but lousy for tourists.
