DAMASCUS, Syria (AP) -- A Syrian military spokesman says Turkey's armed forces have shot down a Syrian warplane near the countries' border, and called the act a "blatant aggression."

Since Russia backs Syria, this is to be expected these days.
Keep it up Turkey and Syria is going to give some AA missiles to the Turkish Kurds...
Let the games begin.
As we speak, official al-Qaeda terrorists are attacking an Armenian Christian area from the Turkish side of the border. The Turkish government is allowing and encouraging this.
This is a non-strategic area away from the other front lines. The rebels have no chance to make large gains because the population supports the government overwhelmingly. The purpose of the attack is to terrorize civilians who support the government. There was a similar attack last year in this area that resulted in dozens of civilians being executed after their villages were briefly captured and over 100 taken hostage by al-Qaeda where they remain.
Our NATO “ally” Turkey is openly trying to genocide Christians now. What is the purpose of post cold-war NATO again?

"Turkey changed its rules of engagement in 2012 after Syria shot down a Turkish military plane, declaring that any Syrian military element approaching the Turkish border would be treated as a legitimate target."
The Turkish regime of Prime Minister Erdogan, an elected Islamist, is primarily concerned with silencing opposition with tear gas in the streets and a complete shutdown of Twitter this last week where people talk about the corruption of the Erdogan government.
Good for Turkey. Now, they need to start turning back Russian flagged ships from the Bosporus straits leading to the Med.
>Maybe Turkey will do to Syria that our arses are afraid to do with our leader King Obama.
Considering Turkey is controlled by an islamist leader, I have to cheer for Syria to wipe out Turkish leadership.
>Good for Turkey.
No thanks. Any islamist led country needs to have its leadership eliminated.
I can see the reason in that. At the moment, though, it appears only a backwards fanatical Islamist government is lifting a finger to stop the russkies.
And Syria is not controlled by a fanatical Islamist dictator? Turkey has no reason to be angry with Syria?
It’s possible for a sparrow to fall that we don’t give a rat’s patootie about.
Wonderful...NATO goes to war for the GD’ed Turks.
A marvelous excuse for Putin if Turkey seems to be bullying Syria. Move on Turkey, take Istanbul (watch his polls spike) and the Bosphorus, and ensure free access to the Mediterranean Sea.
Maybe then we can get Constantinople back. And save Hagia Sophia from becoming a Mosque.
Didn’t he say he would always stand with the Muslims?
He said you could keep your doctor and your health plan. That guy?
You think Istanbul would be a pushover for Russia? OK.
