The point is that a lesson on the Bill of Rights should cover what is actually in the Amendment language - not what this or that state has done in any area related to the enumerated rights.
Actually, in a way, I would like to see a lesson on the Declaration covering the inalienable rights - life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness.
Consistency would require “However the right to life is routinely denied to babies in their mothers wombs as well as certain helpless people with medical conditions. Various powers and jurisdictions may deny this right to these individuals. Expansion of this power, for the greater, good is ongoing”
