If Fred Phelps didnt exist, it would be necessary to invent him.
................................................
Indeed, Phelps was one of the LGBT communitys best friendsprecisely because he was so outrageous. Every time Maggie Gallagher or Robert George would get up and give some vaguely reasonable defense of traditional marriage, Phelpss posse would show up with their tricolor posters and homophobic rhetoric. Phelps was like the emperor with no clothes on. There was nothing disguising his feelings; he made it clear that being anti-gay really was all about hate.

Yeah, I can remember all those WBC members carrying “God Hates Fags” signs at all those gay pride parades...
All none of them.
Yeah, and think of how few people know that fact.
By that logic all liberals really are just like Hitler and want to gas all Jews. Guilt by association using the widest possible broad brush works both ways, Jay.
I was listening to a Christian radio station this morning and the reporter was talking about a book called “After the Ball: How America Will Conquer Its Fear and Hatred of Gays in the 90’s.” One of the reviewers of the book says “I think those that think this book is great because they support the gay agenda are missing the point. The book encourages deceptive marketing to advance its goals. It encourages acceptance of homosexuality based on intimidation, lies and half truths. Do the people who advocate this in the name of gay rights really believe that the ends justify the means, even if the means are evil and abusive? Which brings up another question, if it is impossible to convince people of the goodness of homosexuality without lying about it, have you really convinced them? As soon as they find out the truth I would think they would be angry at being duped.”
I have never heard of this book and I don’t really want to read it but judging from the reviewers and rebuttals to the reviews, the homosexual agenda has known for a long time exactly what they are doing.
I believe Phelps was an agent-provocateur for the Democrats.
I’ve not wished another Americans Death, but I have smiled at reading his Obituary.
Well, he was a crusading civil rights attorney before founding his “church”. He ran numerous political campaigns on the Democratic side of the ticket in Kansas. He campaigned and held fund-raisers for Al Gore.
Oh, and his “church” was simply his family of lawyers, and they engaged in provocative and offensive public demonstrations and routinely sued the hell out of anyone who violated the church’s free speech rights.
All in all, it certainly sounds like a lawsuit machine dreamed up by annoying liberal lawyers now doesn’t it? And the press gobbled it up like a hog at the trough - the image the “church” presented fed every nasty and hateful bias the American left and the communist infiltrators in the media cherish.
May this average Democrat and Democratic supporter RIP.
I’ve had similar suspicions about him myself.
I, too, have considered that as a possibility but for the homos, not the Dems (though he would have been serving their interest also).
His background was strictly Democrat, his "church" could have held services in a phone booth, yet he got a ton on media attention as the face of the anti-homos. Something about that doesn't ring true.
Precisely because Phelps doesn’t have anything in common with conservatism is why the left will lose with his passing.
Bet he was light in the loafers and decided this was the best way to advance the agenda.
Funny isn't it?
Fred Phelps was the face of Christianity for the Liberal minds with no experience with true Christians.
He was a favorite punching bag for any anti-Christian group to say “Westboro Baptists are as hateful as all the other Christians” therefore giving credence to the notion that God hates (You.)
To those who have no positive experience with Christ and have the liberal media as the only source of information, all Christians are evil because this notorious is.
People like this do great damage to the church and deny otherwise good people to reject the message before it is even heard.
You know that Phelps was excommunicated from his church. Also, Westboro is going to picket and demonstrate at his funeral. In addition to that his daughter is apparently calling him a fag-loving whore. Its all quite interesting.

Where did I hear this one before?
To give credit where is is rarely due, the New York Times actually stated that Phelps was a Democrat:
...a much-loathed figure at the fringe of the American religious scene, denounced across the theological and political spectrum for his beliefs, his language and his tactics.Well, yes.
Homosexuality is a mental disorder of those who are dangerous to all Humans.
Rapists don't rape for the relief, they do it for the power. just as Homosexuals
do not have sex for love, it's for perverted sexual pleasure in the same way
a Muslim would hump a goat.
I've noticed the same thing. He and his demented followers would show up with "God Hates Fags" signs at the funerals of US Servicemen, none of whom (in all likelihood) were homosexual. It's about as logical as if 1960's black civil rights activists went over to Japan or China to protest Jim Crow laws, i.e. no sense at all, unless the agenda is to stir up random trouble rather than protest for a cause.
I'm convinced that the whole outfit was conceived by Phelps as a false flag, designed to create a caricature of Christianity and "homophobia" in the mind of the public. As for his followers, well, you can always find some people somewhere to recruit for any cause.
