A 16-year-old boy from New Jersey managed to make his way up to the spire of 1 World Trade Center, pass security and take pictures of his daring escapade.
The incident is raising serious questions about security at the building under construction in the area where the Twin Towers came crashing down during the 9/11 terrorist attacks on the United States.
Justin Casquejo of Weehawken faces several charges including criminal trespass in the third degree.

I’ll bet someone just lost their job there.
I thought I was adventurous / reckless as a teen - but my hat is off to this kid.
Supposedly, a security guard was sleeping on the job
WTC Guard asleep> What can you say?
Kudos to the Kid prob did something no other will do!
“I’m the King of the World!”
I hope someone just lost their job there.

Yes; one security guard so far, who was busted sleeping.
That's not how unions work.
Ought to give the kid somekind of medal, for exposing these idiots.
“That’s not how unions work. “
So, $.50/hour raise?
The true charge is "embarrassing authority."
Remember the West German kid who landed the small plane in Red Square?
the sleeping guard has not been fired... the Private Contractor who hired him has been fired... the elevator operator was reassigned... ridiculous... the only one getting in trouble here is the kid who trespassed... the two idiots who did not do their jobs are untouched... they should lose their jobs... if i were the kid, i would use this incident in my college entrance essay...
That stunt will never be matched!
“That stunt will never be matched!”
I remember when it happened, and still have no idea what his point was. He is lucky to be alive (though I’d imagine many of those responsible for the loss of Soviet face aren’t).
I’ve worked private uniformed security. Trust me when I say that if my actions caused the company to lose a contract, I’d have been fired posthaste. Maybe the elevator operator is unionized.

Being a teen-age boy, he probably didn't have a point - and speaking from my own experience, he probably wasn't considering the implications, especially geo-political ones. Just wanted to see how far he could go....

I did a lot of stupid stuff in my younger days, but I never tried to break into a prison. He was bright enough to fly and land the plane, but didn’t seem to realize he could have very conveniently “disappeared”...
if i were the kid, i would use this incident in my college entrance essay...

Not in line with the guiding philosophy in colleges these days. Unless the kid includes a paragraph or two on smashing the Great Satan.
