Health and Human Services Secretary Kathleen Sebelius will highlight on Thursday local ObamaCare enrollment efforts in Louisiana, a deep red state with major 2014 midterm implications.
Sebelius will appear with New Orleans Mayor Mitch Landrieu to urge Louisianans to enroll before the March 31 deadline. Sebelius and other White House officials are targeting areas with high percentages of uninsured as the final sign-up days tick away.
But Louisiana figures to be a battleground state in 2014, as Democrats seek to protect their Senate majority, and ObamaCare could play a big role in that.
Many states run by Republican governors and legislatures are slowly adopting the Medicaid expansion under ObamaCare, but Louisiana Gov. Bobby Jindal (R), who might harbor presidential aspirations, has been one of the most vocal opponents of the expansion.
Louisiana Sen. Mary Landrieu is up for reelection in 2014 and is widely viewed as one of the most vulnerable Democrats. Jindals opposition to the Medicaid expansion has boosted Democratic hopes that they can run on the issue in the midterms.
Landrieu, sister of New Orleans's mayor, has launched a petition on her website urging the governor to close the Jindal gap, which she argues would bring health insurance to more people who cannot afford it.
But thats not the only ObamaCare battle Jindal is fighting.
Louisiana Lt. Gov. Jay Dardenne has issued a cease-and-desist order to MoveOn, arguing the liberal group is improperly using the Pelican State's "Pick your passion" tourism slogan to slam Jindal.
MoveOns billboard in Baton Rouge reads: Louisiana! Pick your passion! But hope you dont love your health. Gov. Jindal is denying Medicaid to 242,000 people.
MoveOn has said the billboard is protected by the First Amendments free speech protections for parody and satire and is refusing to take it down. The matter will likely have to be settled in court.
The advocacy group has purchased a five-figure buy in Louisiana to run television ads that focus on the cease-and-desist letter.
Why are Louisiana Republicans trying to take down this billboard? the narrator asks. Maybe they dont want you to know that when Gov. Jindal refused to expand Medicaid, he said no to more than $1.65 billion in federal funds and denied healthcare to 242,000 people.
Huge free republic opportunity. Who will lead the protest?
I can’t see how sending in that ghoul would be helpful to Landrieu or any red state demoncrap.
I hope Louisiana reminds Frau Sebelius that six out of every ten Americans would like to see her innards wound around a stick.
Everyone in the area go and ridicule this communist loser freak.
If there are any conservatives there I hope they do.
Another election cycle and Mary will talk conservative. LOL
How stupid to be fooled over and over again.
Something tells me Sibelius’s presence will NOT be a help to Mary Landrieu.
BACKSTORY In the fall of 2009, Sen. Harry Reid (D-Nev.) was trying to get the necessary 60 Dimocrat votes to pass the Affordable Care Act. He needed every Dim on board, which gave waffling senators a great deal of leverage. In Landrieu's case, she connivingly saw that selling her aye vote could get her maybe $200 million federal dollars. Obama complied--- Reid chalked up another vote for Obamacare---and the $4.3 Landrieu giveaway was attached to the Obamacare bill.

==============================================
MEMO TO LOUISIANA VOTERS Sen Mary Landrieu (1) sold her vote; (2) voted for throwing you off your affordable health plans, (3) voted for burdening you with ruinous deductibles, (4) voted for nationalizing 1/16 of the US economy, (5) voted for decimating intergenerational transfers of wealth, (6) voted for abandoning seniors and the chronically ill, (7) voted for IPAB's (Death Panels).
THE LANDRIEU PAPER TRAIL IS HUGE Landrieu sold her aye vote in what Forbes Magazine dubbed "The 'Louisiana Purchase" that included a massive $4.3 Billion to Landrieu.
FORBES REPORTED the Democrats nailed Landrieus support for Obamacare w/ a greenback bribe. Landrieu, critics believe, pledged her vote in exchange for some $200 million more additional federal funds for Louisiana. Except that, due to a drafting error, the law ended up giving Louisiana $4.3 billion: more than twenty times the assigned amount. MORE HERE http://www.forbes.com/fdc/welcome_mjx.shtml
How $4.3 billion to Landrieu was attached to the Obamacare bill, and how Obama and Reid failed to catch and fix it, is yet annother indictment of the Obamacare atrocity. The payoff to Landrieu should be investigated as an indication of how EVERY Democrat came to vote for Obamacare.
