A buddy of mine was just told that his long-time physician is closing up shop and announced he is entering a “boutique practice” (where you can continue seeing him if you pay cash on the barrel).
But no worries. His insurer has just assigned him a new doctor. An Indian female, freshly minted out of Grenada Medical College.

Very sorry your buddy lost his long-time physician.
Perhaps he’ll get lucky and I offer this personal experience. Certain elderly family members, with serious health conditions, cannot get in to their regular primary care physicians for things like respiratory illness (if it’s really pneumonia, they’re in big trouble). The PC doc offices are so busy, they cannot work them in, even though they are long time and fragile patients. There is a “doc-in-the-box” within 3 miles and that is where they go pretty much for anything that isn’t an annual physical. The medical care at this particular facility has been outstanding - their two favorites are a PA and a female doc who is Indian. She is very conscientious, very concerned, and has a wonderful relationship with her patients - explains what is going on, treatments, etc. The medical treatments (I have some medical training) have been ‘spot on’ in my opinion.
Perhaps, though lacking in experience, this Indian doc will not yet be jaded by the system and will turn out to be ok for your buddy - fingers crossed.
