MAS plane did not fly on for four hours, says Malaysia government

ON THE WALL STREET JOURNAL REPORT THAT THE PLANE FLEW ON FOR HOURS

MALAYSIAN officials denied a Wall Street Journal (WSJ) report that cited unnamed US investigators claiming that the missing plane had carried on flying for four hours after falling off the air traffic control radar.

Yesterday, Acting Transport Minister Hishammuddin Hussein said Malaysia Airlines (MAS) had verified with the aircraft's maker Boeing and engine supplier Rolls- Royce that the last time the plane transmitted data was at 1.07am local time last Saturday.

The Beijing-bound MH370 had taken off at 12.41am, but lost radio contact with air traffic control in Subang at about 1.30am. At 2.40am, the control tower reported the missing flight to MAS.

"Rolls-Royce and Boeing teams are here in Kuala Lumpur, and have worked with MAS and the investigations team since Sunday. This issue has never been raised," he told a packed press conference. "As far as Rolls-Royce and Boeing are concerned, those reports are inaccurate."

The WSJ report went viral yesterday after reporting that the MH370 could have continued flying hundreds of additional miles after it went missing from the radar, based on data purportedly sent to Boeing as part of its maintenance-and-monitoring programme from the aircraft's engines.

That, the influential business paper said, raised the possibility that the plane might have headed towards an undisclosed location, a theory which US counter-terrorism officials are pursuing.

MAS chief executive Ahmad Jauhari Yahya said the plane was set to send engine data at pre- programmed intervals or when there were abnormalities within the system. If the plane had carried on flying, it would have transmitted engine data back.

"But the last transmission at 1.07am stated that everything was operating normally," Mr Ahmad said. "The transmission did not run beyond that."

I’ve wondered the same. What is it they say, “The simplest explanation...”?

Starting to wonder if there ever was a plane to begin with. What a mess.

Those Maylasians can GTH.

We’re left without a motive for the dismantling of the flight recorder.

Russia and the USN already downed civilian airliners.

I know of at least three other events where backing the official line became the game.

KAL007, TWA800...

As if Malaysia has any credibility. If the WSJ is so wrong, then why the hell are they expanding the search area. Sorry, Malaysia had six days to get their facts straight and they did not. They have lost face and need to shut up and let the adults take over.

The Israelis also downed an airliner.

Plus there is the rumor of the Italian airliner accidently shot down by a USN fighter who was practicing intercepts back in the 80s.

Then there was the New Mexico Air Guard F100 that shot down the B52 with a Sidewinder in 1961 and the F14 that bagged an RF 4 in Europe.

The Rolls Royce engine telemetry says it did fly on for 4 hours? Yet the Malaysian government denies it?

The Malay government must be complicit in a complex ransom or smuggling scheme, or there are secret negotiations going on between the Malay government and the air pirates who took the 777.

The plane is likely on some obscure air strip in the jungle or is in Pakistan. Now that Malaysian Muslims are victims of their own jihad, I wonder how they like it?

The only fact that everyone seems to agree on is that the plane is missing.

Yep - this is being obfuscated/blurred ala Gun Runner and Benghazi. The real story will be who is hiding what, and why.

Interesting. One story I read is that the US Navy only dispatched one ship to the area because maybe they picked up the signals from the black boxes at the bottom of the ocean. My initial reaction was that the Malaysians would never mount a salvage operation. Maybe I was correct in a way that I didn’t even imagine. It is true that the muzzies are obsessed with hijacking airlines. Sooner or later they were bound to be successful!

It was high jacked and then shot down probably with the consensus of multiple governments.

A problem with the hijack argument is the pilots made no effort to communicate after the transponders were shut down. If hijackers are trying to force their way into the cockpit, I would think someone would have gotten off a mayday.

The only viable scenario I can see is that either the pilot and/or co-pilot was directly involved here, or a crew member was and killed the captain and co-pilot after being let into the cabin. They then took action to incapacitate the passengers (probably through forced decompression of the cabin) and then flew westwards - no cell phone calls were made by passengers with the plane back over land. I do think it is quite possible some air force shot down the plane when it went off course. I have a hard time believing it was spotted on Malaysian military radar and not intercepted.

Usually the military will fess up real quick and pay off the families. Hard to cover up a shoot down at least on our side. You would have to come up with a really good excuse when you return to base missing a missile.
