You can turn off a transponder with it’s individual control switch, with it’s circuit breaker, with the avionics master switch or a failure of the system. There are two independent transponder systems on board. Total electrical failure is such a remote possibility that it is not even on the B777 emergency checklist.

Is the usual way to review checklists on the B777 in binder form or electronically on a screen? (I presume there's always elaborated, binder backup.)

Would even fully checked-out pilots be carrying around a bindered handbook to pull breakers in the bay below or could a typical Amish do it, given that everything is so well labeled?
