I can almost guarantee you that there aren’t any employees at a Gap store in midtown Manhattan working for $10/hour. That kind of hourly pay wouldn’t even get someone out of bed in the morning in a place like NYC with the highest cost of living anywhere in the U.S.
You’d be surprised. A good number of people here work minimum wage 60+ hours a week. Some illegals even below minimum.
Certain (dangerous and dirty) places in the city aren’t very expensive to live.
