Staff members at Western Washington University in Bellingham, Washington are enduring viewpoint-corrective training sessions in far-left political topics like “heterosexual privilege,” “gender privilege” and “language privilege.”
The monthly sessions are known as “Cultural Competency Staff Meetings,” and require that staff members discuss controversial issues and listen to lectures from experts on topics like white privilege and sexism, according to Campus Reform.
The meeting agendas are largely secret, and staff members have been swore to secrecy. One employee, however, gave an interview to Campus Reform explaining some of the details.
“I felt I would be discriminated against based on my political and religious beliefs, and because I don’t believe the content of the meetings will reduce racism or other ‘isms,’” said an anonymous WWU employee. “The primary theme of the meetings makes people considered privileged feel guilty and minorities feel self-pity.”
Staff members were specifically told not to discuss what went on during the sessions with anyone else. The meetings are barred to the public.
After some staff complained that the meetings amounted to little more than indoctrination, attendance was made voluntary.

IF that school receives ANY Federal or State tax money, I smell a FOIA demand for scripts & transcripts from such meetings.

That’s the issue with my youngest; we need to work harder on that.

Same here; growing up on the edge of the Meadowlands here in northern NJ, there was no shortage of open spaces (in an otherwise congested area), illegal dumping to provide lumber, etc.

My other sons have found some other kids with a similar sense of adventure, who also appreciate just kicking a soccer ball around. They are more “foreign” than my childhood friends, but in some ways the same...
...try as we did, both of us avid readers in school and proponents of generating and influencing that nebulous “imagination”, failed to reproduce that in our own four children...
They say the best way to get a kid to read is to read to them from an early age.
“Graphic novels” are being usied in schools to try to get kids to read the more “classic” books.”
I’ve seen some children’s versions of “Treasure Island” and such; I’d imagine that is as close as most students will get to the classics. My children read few of the same books I read for school, though they’ve read some of them on their own (my own copies of the books from years ago).

When brick-and-mortar colleges wither and die because of online learning, there will be so many otherwise unemployable liberals drawing unemployment it will destroy the system.

Someday, somebody’s going to file a hostile-work-environment suit against those freaking courses. Remember, it doesn’t matter how the HR department intended them, it’s how the people who had to take the training felt about them.
