It is because presidents and princes are susceptible to the allure of power that coups d'etat are sometimes necessary.
I understand how invading a country and destroying their army works but how does this Putin thing work?
- What happens to Crimean peoples money in Ukrainian banks and vice versa?
- What about Crimean citizens who get government checks or jobs from Kiev?
- What of Ukrainian assets in the Crimea?
- Will Ukrainians be kicked out of the Crimea or Russians out of Ukraine?
This could be a real mess.
I guess in this coming election the Crimean’s are not being offered the choice of independence from both Ukraine and Russia. Autocrats and Serfs are back in fashion.
From Occupy and the neo-Communists on the left to the Tea Party and the so-called Dark Enlightenment on the right, there is a remarkable consensus: There is no one who can be trusted with political power.
The author clearly knows little about the differences between those who want constrained government and liberty and those who would enslave us and put most of us in the gulags.
BTW, what the hell is the “Dark Enlightenment” he’s talking about? I post tons of stuff, which means I read even more stuff, and that’s the first I remember hearing the term.
I think in the final paragraph he meant to write Gadsden flag, not Gonzales.

Look what WE were 'offered' in OUR last National election!
BTW, what the hell is the Dark Enlightenment hes talking about?

All I had to do was to take some tests to see what my intelligence levels wuz.
And, it was only going to cost me about $50 or so.
(It didn't take too much smarts to figger THAT out!)
“Power attracts the corruptible. Absolute power attracts the absolutely corruptible. This is the danger of entrenched bureaucracy to its subject population. Even the spoils systems are preferable because levels of tolerance are lower and the corrupt can be thrown out periodically. Entrenched bureaucracy seldom can be touched short of violence. Beware when Civil Service and Military join hands.”
Frank Herbert
I quit reading where the writer misquoted Lord Acton.
