2012 Calif Presidential election by county

It would break up 55 solid democrat electoral votes, which makes the plan worth considering.

Tell you what bud. The next time a Republican actually campaign vigorously in the state, I may actually give a damn about our 55 electoral votes. They sure as hell don’t.

Judging by that map, I think (can’t be sure without crunching county population figures) that this plan would create three blue states, one red state and two purple states.

It is definitely bluer than it was a few years ago. I would love to retire in or around Crescent City, with giant redwoods in my backyard, but as it is now, as soon as I am retired I will be getting the hell out of this mess.
