I don’t much care for the prebate either, but I have been told by many economic minds sharper than mine that it is necessary so as to somewhat mute the class warfare argument.

If every family of a given size is able to purchase the necessities of life tax FRee, so the argument goes, then the class warfare warriors (and, they are legion!) will not be able to make the argument that FairTax hurts the poor.

If I had my way, FairTax would have no prebate, and the rate could be lower — 18% instead of 23%, IIRC. I’d rather have the lower rate than the prebate, FRankly.

When I lose my policy, I will not sign up for the exchanges. When they send the fine, I will not pay it. Eventually, they MUST issue a warrant to arrest me for not paying the fines and when they do, I will ignore its command. Eventually, they will have to act to enforce that warrant and then they will knock on my door, when they do I will not answer it. Eventually, they will be forced to kick the door in and when they do they will be met with resistance and they will pay a price.

Of course, I know that I will pay the ultimate price, but they must be willing to shoot me dead in order to mandate their health insurance utopia. It is that way with every one of their desires, but this one is my bright line.

These letters will all come about the same time. The IRS might get smart and try to disperse them, but they’ll still come. When they do, we should all take our letters to our state capital. Say, “We are not criminals. We’re free men. It stops here!”
