Victory! Chevron wins RICO case over Ecuador shakedown artists

Long time readers will know that I’ve been covering the ongoing dispute between Chevron and Ecuador for a couple of years now. The effortt by a coalition of blatantly corrupt activist in Ecuador and their willing environmentalist cohorts in the United States was attempting to pick Chevron’s pockets to the tune of billions of dollars. But unlike many nuisance suits against energy companies, Chevron decided to fight back and took them to court after multiple instances of corruption in the Ecuador courts were brought to light.

This week, that long leg of the journey has ended, and Federal Judge Lewis Kaplan has ruled that the Ecuador judgement goes out with the trash.

Can you give us more details about the case.
A left-wing moonbat has mentioned this story on the editorial pages of the Fargo Forum for almost a year.
She contends that Texaco did a tremendous amount of environmental damage to Ecuador.

Texaco actually turned over the facilities to an Ecuadoran company, and they’re the ones who made the environmental mess, but the activists teamed up with some crooked attorneys (who it turned out actually helped write some of their “experts”’ reports citing the environmental and health impact) to go after the big pockets of Texaco.

That’s it in a nutshell.

From the post in November:

Not sure where you’d find more info but from what I recall, Texaco did a pretty good job of cleaning up. Don’t know myself.

There is a little-noticed but important aspect to the ruling:

There is a ONGOING racketeering conspiracy at the highest levels of the American legal profession. A whole lot of law firm money is now on the line.

I figured it was something like that. The letter to editor writer is a well known left-wing moonbat who hates America
and private free enterprise.

READ! “...While most eyes are on the spectacle that is the Cubanization of Venezuela, many are missing the same process taking place in Ecuador. Just as they did in Venezuela, Cuba’s Castro dictatorship has installed a puppet dictator in Ecuador, Rafael Correa, to oversee the colonization of yet another resource-rich South American country...” http://babalublog.com/2013/12/22/ecuadors-dictator-correa-using-u-s-laws-to-silence-opposition-outside-the-country/
