Riders, state legislators and transit advocates spoke out Sunday against Governor Cuomo’s proposed raid of $40 million in transit funds for subway and bus services.

Same thing that O’Malley did in Maryland. Steal $700 million from transportation funds for other-than-intended purposes and then cry hard times and demand tax increases to pay for roads that suddenly fall apart.

“These are the times that try men’s souls. In the course of our nation’s history, the people of New York City have rallied
bravely whenever the rights of men have been threatened. Today, a new crisis has arisen. The Metropolitan
Transit Authority, better known as the M. T. A., is attempting to levy a burdensome tax on the population in the
form of a subway fare increase. Citizens, hear me out! This could happen to you!”

“Great song!”

Good catch! I didn’t think anyone would get it! That song started my musical career! I started out on banjo due to it.

Ha! I play the banjo myself, and guitar. Not good enough on banjo yet to play like the Trio, but am working on it. I grew up listening to them, and this was always one of my faves. Along with Tijuana Jail.

Went from 5-string to acoustic guitar, then electric, and finally pedal steel in ‘71. That’s what paid the bills. Gigged every day! + studio work.
Here’s a good banjo book for ya;
