Better to partition the country along ethic and linguistic lines peacefully and show the world it can be done . Like Czechoslovakia. I think the larger part of the Ukrainian military will go on vacation, refuse to recognize the unelected Maiden Nazi government or defect to Russia.

Western Ukraine will ask for Western military intervention, several vetoes will disable the UN, then European NATO nations get to volunteer to be the battlefield.
