The eruption will be canceled by executive order, Obama’s phone, and his pen will heal the planet. Mr. Gore’s dust bowl however will proceed as planned.

Reminds me of a scene from a Viet Nam War novel:
American soldiers, cut off, are forced to sample the flesh of VC killed by napalm.
One remarks: “Who says man is inherently bad? He’s delicious!”

Farther east lies the New Madrid fault, on the banks of the Mississippi river. It has the potential to completely cut off ground transportation from east to west.

I’d be willing to try magma-killed mountain goat.
I hear they fry up real good.

....a gas called Helium-4, a very rare type of Helium....Helium-4 (42He or 4He) is a non-radioactive isotope of the element helium. It is by far the most abundant of the two naturally occurring isotopes of helium, making up about 99.99986% of the helium on Earth.

“Not good. Not good at all. If that sucker does ever go we could have something akin to a nuclear winter in large parts of the country.”
FAA, a 1/3 of the USA would disappear in a matter of minutes, the volcanic ash would in some places be several feet deep.

And this thread has gotten silly, too.

On the bright side, the volcanic ash would make for very fertile soil. Eventually. Long after I'm dead.

If I had an extra paycheck for every time they said Yellowstone was about to erupt I wouldnt need anymore paychecks. It could happen any century now... or perhaps in just a couple million years. The only hope for survival is of course bigger government.
