Lt. Eric Cooke sounds like a first-class pr*ck.

Anyone, especially a cop, who calls a semi-automatic rifle an “assault weapon” is a jack-booted liberal thug.

" What are they going to do when their local LEO's come breaking down their neighbor's door at 2am to confiscate this now illegal weapon? "

They'll never get a judge to sign the search warrant absent recent, sworn affidavit that somebody personally saw the firearm in question.

It won't stop them from knocking on the door and asking though.

And it does inject felonious risk to any transport of the weapon.

Sounds like a good time to open a storage locker business in Pike County PA: about an hour’s drive west of CT on I-84.

What a remarkable change in Connecticut, in just a few short years.

When I was a kid, it was a solidly Republican state. We used to go to Hawks Nest Beach for family days. My cousins lived in Hartford, and we used to visit them all the time. There was no income tax.

Now, Bridgeport, Hartford, New London and New Haven (all 4 in one little state) are crime-ridden hellholes. All of them are ranked in the top 100 most dangerous cities, ranging from 26-51. Only Michigan has 4 in the top 51 (California has 3), but both of them are much bigger.

How did this happen so fast?

So we just don't worry about it? In this instance they have all the proof they need for a warrant....the people who received these letters tried to register their guns, albeit late...they've already admitted it. According to this letter it is now incumbent upon THEM to provide proof of adherence.

Unfortunately, I believe your response will be the norm (no offense intended). The powers that be know that most will not come to the defense of the guy they don't know, to the guy who they've only heard about on the news after his arrest.

Gunowners all talk a good game. I do too. I only hope I stand when the time comes.

And make no mistake...the time is coming.

If they didn’t register their guns how does the gov know who has them? Hmmm?

My question, as well.

And it requires an answer...

If those won’t do PA is close enough. Heck the whole New England state area is smallish.

I read somewhere, heh, that these particular gun owners tried to comply but missed the deadline. They outed themselves.

What is an assault weapon?

Is it similar to a rape weapon, a robbery weapon or an arson weapon?

just tossing the Constitution right out the window. charges must be filed or this bs will stand

most people don’t know that the Chinese have the same rights as we do... minus the right to bear arms. without it, all the other rights are just for show

They'll go to gun shops and copy 4473s. Probably have already done it or gotten the info from the atf which has been illegally collecting the info for the last 5 yrs.

Of course all the owner has to do is say they lost the firearms in a boating accident or sold it in a private sale.

This info won't identify owners that bought the guns out of state or in a private sale.

“If they didn’t register their guns how does the gov know who has them? Hmmm?”

If you bought it through a commercial source, or you bought ammunition with a credit card the meta-data collectors will flag you. Have you run your credit report? It gathers data from multiple sources and combines it. To identify myself a government computer program asked, “What make and model car did you own in 1977? It also asked, “What city did you live in in 1978?” (It gives you multiple choices. I actually had to guess as even I didn’t recall.

You’re probably looking at no-knock raids coming soon.

It is the communists State of Connecticut that is the example of what is going to happen all over America unless we get the Federal Government and make all gun registration illegal in the United States.

That is how Austria was overtaken by Hitler and the Nazi government without a shot before the war. Confiscation of citizenry firearms.

That needs repeating over and over. When this happens in a few more States it is time to begin the civil war. Communists must be destroyed.

Nice reward for trying to obey the law, isn't it?

Dang! Hard way to learn that today's gov can't be trusted. If there is any upside there maybe it will make them more resolute about resisting and making changes to it.
