Allen West: Don't Compare Arizona Religious Freedom Bill Protests to Civil Rights Movement

It's a "slap in the face" to the black community to compare protests against an Arizona bill, which would let some business owners deny services to gays, to the civil-rights movement, former U.S. Rep. and retired Army Lt. Col. Allen West said Wednesday.

In an exclusive interview with "The Steve Malzberg Show" on Newsmax TV, West, whose Allen West Guardian Fund supports and endorses conservative military minority candidates, said comparing the movements is merely "sensationalism."

"I want people to stop saying that this is all of a sudden the new civil right because . . . it's a slap in the face to people like my parents," he said. "They knew what discrimination was, being brought up in the '20s and the '30s and '40s down in the Deep South of Georgia. So, I don't want to see us go down that path."

The simple fact of the matter is there are much more conservative states than Arizona, the exact same bill WILL pass in one or more of them and WILL be signed into law. The dirty little secret is the reason the libs pulled out all the stops to kill this bill was that they are terrified it will be upheld by the Supreme Court. You see, the Supreme Court has already ruled that Christian Doctors can legally refuse to provide abortion services or referrals based on their beliefs. So it will be very difficult to argue that Doctors deserve such protections, but bakers and wedding photographers don't.

The courts have already forced a baker to do it.

I wonder if the baker will now choose to exercise his religious freedom by praying over the cake to loudly encourage the buyers to turn away from Satan and to reform their sin-filled lives?

THAT should brighten up the “wedding”.

RE: Oklahoma

VULNERABLE.

This is the state that had a referendum in 2010 to approve a constitutional amendment banning Sharia law (i.e. forbade its courts from considering Islamic law in judicial decisions ). It was passed by the people OVERWHELMINGLY.

Guess what? ONE US JUDGE OVERTURNED IT CALLING IT UNCONSTITUTIONAL.

What have the people of Oklahoma done about it since?

I see the law as opening opportunities for others. If a Christian baker refuses to bake a homo a cake, the homos should then open their own bakery to serve themselves.

The question is, would health laws be as tough for the homo bakery as for other bakeries?

Blah, blah, blah. It it weren't for victims what would we talk about?

We have suffered more than anyone else! Blah, blah, blah.
