Undeclared wars and use of American troops for ‘police actions’ are an entirely different issue then the preparedness to fight a war for survival.
Every ally we add means we’re adding an enemy. I’ve got no warm feelings for the current Iranian regime, but at least they are not pretending to be our special friends while agitating for the expenditure of more American lives and money to fight their regional battles. The Iranians want the US out of the Middle East and so do a growing number of Americans, including conservatives.
