Turkey's Prime Minister accused political enemies of hacking encrypted state communications to fake a phone conversation suggesting he warned his son to hide large sums of money before police raids in a graft inquiry that reached into government.
In a dramatic session of parliament after posting of an 11-minute audio tape on YouTube, Tayyip Erdogan described it as a shameless and treacherous "montage". He did not name those he held responsible but made it clear he was talking of a network run by former ally, Islamic cleric Fethullah Gulen.
The head of the main parliamentary opposition insisted the conversation was genuine, telling Erdogan: "My advice to you is either flee the country, take your helicopter, or resign."

iran spliced the tape.
Marion Barry has provided an alternate defense for Erdogan...
LOL
Well, it seems pretty easy to determine if the tapes were faked. Did the son hide the money, as the tape instructed?
If so, then the tapes aren’t fake.
Only a matter of weeks before Erdogan goes down, and a sudden rush by minor parties for another election. The military will sit there and just grin....when they wanted to do a coup a couple of years ago...they got stopped by Erdogan.
Erdogen made a simple but devastating blunder: one lie is always more persuasive than two lies.
First, outrage about phone tapping only matters when nothing of value was tapped. But he basically did the Bart Simpson of saying “I Didn’t Do It. Nobody Saw Me Do It. There’s No Way You Can Prove Anything!”
The difference is Erdogan can find enough pious Muslims to keep firing at unarmed protesters indefinitely.
It is the pious Muslims firing at Erdogan. The guns are pointing in the right direction.
It is Erdogan that has virtually defeated the secular Army.
Erdogan that has advised the Egyptian Muslim Brotherhood how is Islamize Egypt with a secular Army in the way.
Ergodan’s Justice and Development Party is an Islamist party.
The protesters are secular.
There are always even more radical Muslims but make no mistake Ergodan is an Islamist.
