Woo-Hoo Ma, thanks for tonight’s Canteen! Our Troops Rock!
Read: Exodus 20:8-11
Our golden retriever can get so overly excited that he will go into a seizure. To prevent that from happening, we try to calm him. We stroke him, speak to him in a soothing voice, and tell him to lie down. But when he hears lie down, he avoids eye contact with us and starts complaining. Finally, with a dramatic sigh of resignation, he gives in and plops to the floor.
Sometimes we too need to be reminded to lie down. In Psalm 23, we learn that our Good Shepherd makes us lie down in green pastures and leads us beside the still waters. He knows that we need the calm and rest that these provide, even when we dont realize it ourselves.
Our bodies are designed to have regular rest. God Himself rested on the seventh day after His work of creation (Gen. 2:2-3; Ex. 20:9-11). Jesus knew there was a time to minister to the crowds and a time to rest. He instructed His disciples to come aside . . . and rest a while (Mark 6:31). When we rest, we refocus and are refreshed. When we are filling every hour with activityeven with worthwhile thingsGod often gets our attention by making us lie down.
Rest is a gifta good gift from our Creator who knows exactly what we need. Praise Him that He sometimes makes us lie down in green pastures.

Good evening, Pro...((HUGS))...how was your day? Sun? Rain? Snow?
Beautiful, sunny day here, but they say pushing 40 later in the week. UGH!!
Good evening, Mayor, and thank you for today’s sustenance for body and soul.
More snow? Horrid cold?
Good evening, Marine...yes! You are in....feeling good?
Back in the mid 1970s I was a Federal agent working in Alabama. Unknown to us who worked out of a small P.O.D., there was a near revolt going on.
We had a ten day meeting of all agents in the state. All of us from out of town stayed in the BOQ at Maxwell and ate at the officers open mess. Our meetings were held in a large room resembling a movie theater on base.
The one thing I remember vividly was how bad the food was. It was high quality ingredients ruined by bad cooks.

Feeling o-k.
Really sick of cold weather! This has been a hard winter here in Iowa. Both record snow and record lows. We have a neighbor who just moved up here last fall from Louisiana. This is her first winter and I think she’s having second thoughts.
Hi Everybody!
((((HUGS))))
Good evening. No snow, temps took the downward turn. Supposed to be in teens all week. It’s almost March for goodness sake.
Never been there.
Hiya Kathy, sun and 60 degrees here today! Suppose to stay warmish and wet for awhile, no complaints here -:)
