GB usually also hits the respiratory system hard often to the point of temporary need for a respirator so we were told.

Meant to add that an analysis of cerebrospinal fluid would be used in diagnosis of GB Syndrome but TM diagnosis is very difficult. Cause can range from spinal injury to viral infection.
