Canada? Mexico? Israel? England? Germany? Japan?
Those countries can defend themselves. Japan in particular should be weaned off US military support, which amounts to welfarism at the national level. If Japan develops nuclear weapons, so much the better. Keep Beijing guessing; introduce some creative tension there, and new opportunities for the US to exert leverage by playing the "good cop," for example.

If we are going to continue playing policeman and “creating democracies”in areas of the world that don’t want them, then it is time those other countries you mentioned start compensating us and paying a significant portion of our tab, even though no amount of money will cover those killed or wounded in action..
Why are we paying foreign aid too to other countries when we are forced to cut our forces? When push comes to shove the USA is the only country I care about.
