President Obama is stepping up his efforts to coalesce and energize the Democratic base for the 2014 elections, backing off on issues where his positions might alienate the left, and more aggressively singling out Republicans as being responsible for the countrys problems.
--SNIP-- Polls show most Americans share the Democrats views. The position that is popular with the progressive base is the mainstream position, Pfeiffer said.

TOTAL Bravo Sierra. Washington Post — say no more.
Too bad the decision to reduce the infighting in the dem party did not result in his leaving his throne.
Very soon with the help of the media, Obamacare will be call “Republicancare”.
Obama couldn’t mastermind his way out of bed in the morning, and he’s trying to defuse tensions? What a maroon.
White House chief of staff Denis McDonough held an unpublicized meeting with Sen. Michael Bennet (DIMWIT-Colo), chairman of the Senate Democrats campaign arm, amid anger and anxiety that ObamaCares botched rollout could cost the party its majority next year.
In the meeting, requested by the Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee (DSCC), McDonough and Bennet discussed what the White House could do to help vulnerable Senate Democrats and talked about developing a stronger relationship with the White House.
(That cockamamie idea was quickly discarded. After all, Democrats reasoned, who would believe a ditzy story like that.....other than the brain dead MSM media.)
Democratic senators fear the White House is not sympathetic enough to their plight. After the government shutdown, they were confident they would retain the Senate, maybe even retake the House; but Dem optimism vanished as problems with the healthcare law mounted.
(The buzz is Speaker-wannabe Pelosi disconsolately went back to sucking up everything in sight.)
I know these guys are nervous as hell. I mean, all of their jobs are on the line because Obamacare is the thing making the biggest political waves lately. Its a nightmare, Denis whined.

WATTA RELIEF--DEMOCRATS COME UP WITH THE ONLY WORKABLE SOLUTION Obama recently announced the White House's 2014 Senate strategy: "Keep Obama away." The extensive midterm campaign strategy is built around one unavoidable fact: Hardly any candidates in the most competitive states want President Barack Obama anywhere near them on the campaign trail.
Watch as the Head Narcissist In Charge, can not refrain from interjecting himself in the election.
He bought himself a pretty good bounce in the polls last week, somehow. I couldn’t figure it out; it wasn’t like the Sandy-Christie event of election day. Maybe people started getting tax refunds?
"Starting with a wrong premise leads to faulty logical conclusion." Old Fortune Cookie warning.
Polls show = We Made It up
Lame duck.
The only way for Obama to defuse tensions within the Democrat Party is for him (Obama) to resign!!! End of story!!!
Bullshit. For some reason, when the time comes for them to try to get votes, they suddenly feel the need to 'sound' Conservative in order to actually win elections. They've been telling themselves that their progressive views are "mainstream" as long as I've been following politics(late 90s).
It may eventually be true as they continue to import voters via illegal immigrants in ever increasing amounts, expand the welfare state into the lower middle class, and get more naive/stupid/propagandized younger people voting for them.
Barbara Streisand and other Hollywood airheads should be easy for him... or maybe Obama can threaten to put ‘minders’ in movie companies to make sure they’re serving the public needs...
The position that is popular with the progressive base is the position we tell them is popular, Pfeiffer said.
There, fixed it for them.
