All I can figure is the election was held prior to “bridgegate” and he was being touted as the “frontrunner for the GOP in the 2016 Presidential race” by the press (not by us, of course) and was popular in *some circles* due to his response to Sandy (in lieu of (or not) his bromance with Bambi).
